When Steve first came to the Adirondacks, he was drawn to an unusual Adirondack Chair. Turns out it was the original Adirondack Chair is called the Westport Chair and was designed on the shores of Lake Champlain by Thomas Lee and patented by Harry Bunnell in 1905. In 2003 nobody was making these chairs so Steve bought the plans from the Adirondack Museum Store, added a few modifications and started making them. Now, Adirondack Craftsmen, Chinese and Mexican Craftsmen make Westport Chairs but Steve’s unique modifications are much more pleasurable to one’s seating comfort.
